Les Dimanches Disco : Instant Funk's Crying

Instant Funk was one of those Salsoul Records supergroups - their legacy is associated with places such as the legendary Paradise Garage.

I Got My Mind Made Up was their greatest hit, but they have many other equally memorable disco songs, if not more interesting than the one that got them famous.

For me, Crying is a super powerful and emotional songs that somehow breaks my heart a little every single time.

Enjoy!

Film & Fashion Fridays : Twin Peaks memories pt I

Ok, technically these snaps are from the Twin Peaks series, not the Fire Walk With Me movie.

However, I believe Twin Peaks is such a classic that I'm going to overlook this technicality this one time.

I just discovered all these screen shots I had saved on my old PC and decided they were too good not to share!

I mean sure, we still have a lot of summer left, but thinking about the fall these just feel like EXACTLY what I'd want to wear for the next season. Take it more like an expanded moodboard - forest walpapers, velvet sofas, bow ties, bolo ties, tweed, western shirts, navajo prints, menswear, 90s make up...

Since there are so many, I will break it into 2 parts for you :)

Enjoy!

Les Dimanches Disco - Runaway Love

Hello friends!

Yes, I know I've been neglecting this blog BIG TIME with no real excuse whatsoever...

Well, I have to admit I've been focusing more on my musical projects and keeping my vintage side to the bare survival minimum but now I'm trying to bring the two back together.

Donc... Les Dimanches Disco!

Sundays are usually after hours day - when DJs fly back to their home, get some rest or just try to sober up after a weekend of partying and listen to sleaze - the more soulful, downtempo morning music.

It may just be a video shared on twitter, or a nice glamor shot or just any lazy glitzy randomness. Or full fleshed posts.

This week, after reading this amazing article about the mind-blowing NYC 80s gay club with a fucking planetarium-grade star machine,The Saint, I got completely hooked on this charming video of Linda Clifford's Runaway Love.

Here's what she says about the magic going on at The Saint :

“When I walked in, I thought, ‘Wow, this place is freakin’ huge,’” Clifford recalls, “and immediately ran to a dressing area, so I didn’t get to see the crowd until I hit the stage. Holy shit! It was one of those things that takes your breath away and then you’re like, ‘Snap out of it – you’ve got a job to do.’ I sang ‘Runaway Love’ and incorporated some of the guys in the audience into my whole shtick, and they went insane. Just insane. And I thought to myself, ‘I’m in heaven.’ On the ceiling, it looked like stars. Maybe that’s why I relate this whole thing to being in heaven.
“Then I thanked them for making my dreams come true because that’s what they did. I sang ‘If My Friends Could See Me Now’ and – I’m not kidding you – for 20 minutes after that, they screamed and ranted. It was like ‘You can play another song, but we’re not dancing to it.’ I was like, ‘Oh my God, I gotta go back.’ And the management was like, ‘No, you’re contracted for two songs – that’s it.’ Now, I had performed at Studio 54 and that’s pretty big and decadent, but it was not on the same level. The Saint audience was without a doubt the craziest and most fun group I’ve ever played for. They just went nuts, and made me go nuts.”

Check out the video below. And I mean...her hair!!

Have a super chill Sunday!

White Dreams - Jardin Albert Kahn pt2

Happy Easter everyone! In Romania we're just celebrating it this week.

I know I've been neglecting this blog quite a bit, but I've been focusing on some music projects lately.

We're having such a warm and amazing spring in Paris! Everything is scented and in bloom and all the parks are full of daffodils and magnolias and people having picnics.

I took a friend to the Jardin Albert Kahn  last week, which reminded me about this photo shoot from last summer.

I never got around to sharing the rest of the photos, so here is a couple from the same series.

The ones in the Foret Vosgienne make me feel like I'm in an Edwardian postcard, like those I sometimes find aux puces.

The beautiful Partie de Campagne dress I'm wearing is still available in the shop, ready to fulfill your early 20th century fantasies.

Have a lovely spring!
